How It Happened

So Flyaway Couple became Flyaway Single on our flight to Rome, Italy. What do I mean? I flew Delta One while Josh flew in the main cabin.

As we boarded our plane to head to Rome for our family vacation, my dad “gifted” me with his ticket. I was prepared to sit in the main cabin with limited legroom and basic comfort. I had no idea he and my mom had been upgraded!

When I saw my accommodations, I was in shock. I felt like I was a movie star. I mean, this only occurs in soppy romance movies, right?

Delta One Benefits

In addition to the premium seating and dining on board, you will start to experience the Delta One experience the moment you enter the airport!

Sky Priority Access

Delta Sky Priority gives you priority access to security lanes, accelerated check-in, and boarding. This can be very helpful during busy travel times.

Delta SkyClub Access

Passengers who are flying Delta One are granted Delta SkyClub access regardless of Delta Medallion Status. Domestic flights that connect to same-day international Delta One flights are also granted SkyClub access.

Accommodations

You know how tight you feel in the back of the plane? Well, it’s probably because they took the space for Delta One!

The seats are located in their own cubicle and recline into a bed. The TV screens pop out and can be rotated for optimal comfort. Some seats in Delta One also function like massage chairs. It’s amazing.

Delta One offers a range of seating configurations that can accommodate couples traveling together. The seat arrangements may vary depending on the aircraft and specific cabin layout. The seats are typically arranged in a 1-2-1 or 2-2-2 configuration, allowing direct aisle access for each passenger.

Premium Dining

Dish of Ravioli when flying Delta One

OMG. I was in love. Delicious breakfast. Wonderful appetizer. Yummy Lunch. I had no complaints about the food, especially for an airline.

We were provided a menu at our seat that had three food options for lunch/dinner: BBQ, Chicken, and vegetarian pasta. In addition, we were provided snacks and offered drinks on several occasions.

In-Flight Entertainment

We had access to an extensive selection of entertainment options, including a personal seat-back entertainment system with a wide range of movies, TV shows, music, and games!

Amenity Kits

We had our own personal travel essentials provided! The Delta One travel kits included skin care products and other necessities to enhance our comfort during the flight.

As I found my seat and settled into the shocking surprise of Delta One, I also discovered that I was provided with bedroom slippers, a blanket, and noise-canceling headphones. The optimal place to sleep… which I did within 5 minutes of taking off!

If you’re trying to travel bougie on a budget, grabbing a Delta One seat for cheap is challenging. There have been stories of people snagging seats for a reasonable fee. Seat prices average around $5,000. Most one-way tickets cost between $3,000 to $10,000!

Would I Travel Delta One Again?

Yes, I would definitely fly Delta One again if given the opportunity. If you are trying to travel bougie on a budget, Delta One is not your budget-friendly option. I couldn’t get past the part where you said your dad gifted you his ticket. Since when does an airline let you transfer tickets from one passenger to another? As far as I know that is NEVER done. If someone can’t use their ticket, they can cancel and get an e-credit, that’s it. I fly almost exclusively with Delta and never heard of this being a thing.

You are right, they do not transfer tickets. My dad and I were on the same flight. He took my economy seat and let me take his Delta One seat 🙂
