At Flyaway Couple, we strive to provide tips and trips for scoring a luxury trip for less. Our platform was created with a passion for helping other couples and busy families save money on the next vacation. Regardless, we hope that everyone can find some helpful tips for his/her next getaway!
𝒪𝓊𝓇 𝒮𝓉𝑜𝓇𝓎
Josh was born and raised in upstate New York and Sara grew up in the Piedmont Triad area of North Carolina. We both attended the same university where we would end up meeting each other (and the rest is history!)
When we met, we found we shared a love of exploration after our first cruise together in 2011. While we both continue to work full time in healthcare and finance, our travel adventures are ongoing.
Flyaway Couple was first started to keep our families and friends back home up to date on our travel experiences. We were using Flyaway Couple like an online journal (so to speak.)
Then the more we wrote (*cough* Sara wrote), we realized how much fun writing about travel had become. We decided we wanted Flyaway Couple to be more than just a journal, we wanted it to be BIGGER and more meaningful- so we started to write about travel tips, destination guides, and money-saving tips.
When traveling, we enjoy seeing the iconic highlights of a city but, more importantly, we LOVE authentic experiences that allow us to experience the local culture.
We create guides that will help you plan your trips whether you take multiple mini vacays a year or you’re planning your next big international getaway.

Here at Flyaway Couple, we believe that travel can be made affordable with the right planning and organization. Having champagne taste on a beer budget isn’t always impossible.
We have nothing against camping or backpacking trips (Sara isn’t the biggest fan); however, as we get older we prefer the luxury of a 5-star hotel, secluded boutique hotels, and quaint bed and breakfasts.
With our extensive travel experience, we have learned ways to achieve our dream vacation for a fraction of the cost. We want to help you do the same!
𝐹𝓊𝓃 𝐹𝒶𝒸𝓉𝓈
While running this travel blog full-time is a dream, it’s not a reality. We both have full-time jobs and work on the blog during any extra spare time.
Ok, to clarify something – Sara runs the blog. Josh just reads it. lol
Our first trip together was a Caribbean Cruise aboard the Independence of the Seas.
During a trip to St. Augustine, we somehow failed to book the B&B for the correct number of nights. As a result, we took a detour to Hilton Head Island on our way back home. It ended up being the best part of the trip. Sometimes spontaneity wins.
Sara learned how to drive a stick shift growing up and hopes to use those skills on the European streets one day.
One of Josh’s favorite past times is camping. He attempted to share this love with Sara who gave it a shot but prefers electricity and running water.

Don’t let the travel blog name fool you! While it may just be the two of us, this fur baby joined our life in 2020 and has invited himself along the way many times.
Expect some cameo appearances from this guy, Woody. He loves to travel, but most of all he loves his people.
